Andrey Saylev, born in 1982, studied at the Samara Art College and a state pedagogical academy. He began his artistic career in 2003, working as a sculptor, painter, photographer, videographer, and street artist, while also curating.

Saylev's work seeks to materialize the flow of time and explore the architecture of its "spatial slices.» He delves into details, dissecting various textures, materials, and spaces in experimental series. His reflections focus on urban space, cultural memory, and the anonymity of artistic expression. Common elements in his works include patterned structures like bricks, tiles, and books, which he views as ideal forms of "compressed" time. He refers to his attention to this physicality as the "depth of field" of vision, aiming to teach viewers how to adjust their perception.

He has participated in the parallel programs of the 5th and 6th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art and the MANIFESTA-10 festival (2014). He took part in the 2017 Russian Contemporary Art Triennale and was nominated for the Sergey Kurekhin Award in 2017 for Public Art. He was also nominated for the Innovation State Prize in 2018 for Regional Project and in 2019 for Artist of the Year. Since 2017, he has lived and worked in Moscow, with works held in the Tretyakov Gallery, Moscow Multimedia Art Museum, and private collections in Russia and abroad.
